Mindful
Inspired by Psalm 8
Uncreated Creator:
The heavens declare the work of Your hand,
The mountain peaks and shores of sand,
Sun, moon, and sky
- all in their place,
And yet you know all of me
- surely this is grace.
The War Inside
Inspired by Galatians 2-3 and Romans 7
I am told I am alive,
That Christ has set me free,
Now no longer must I strive,
For my liberty.
The Scripture says I have died,
Proven a transgressor,
Now I stand justified,
And trust in the Vinedresser.
But I feel my sin alive,
My members waging war,
When will I alas arrive,
This flesh I do abhor!
“Wretched man that I am!”
My cry with Paul’s the same,
Help me pure and spotless lamb,
And stir the Spirit’s flame.
My silent soul now at rest,
Positioned for Your voice.
Though I feel that I am pressed,
I know I can rejoice.
How foolish must I think,
That my flesh would perfect me,
From living water do I drink,
Because of Calvary.
The prodigal has now come home,
To the Father’s embrace,
The Spirit inside will cry and groan,
For His intimate grace.
